What are the limits and requirements for file attachments when uploading to Colorado 811?

Colorado 811 allows users to upload all common file types, such as images and videos, with a generous file size limit of 5 GB per attachment. Extremely large volumes or oversized files can take up to 6-8 minutes to upload and will be flagged by the system to prevent errors or potential abuse. Files larger than 5GB will be rejected by the system.

Up to 12,000 files can be uploaded per Service Area/Utility Type combination per ticket. Please note; there is a per call limit on the API, but there is NOT a limit on the number of files a positive response can hold.

Only the following file extensions are accepted: cad, dbf, heic, jpeg, jpg, kmz, mov, mp4, pdf, png, prj, shp, shx. If another file type is attempted the system will error out. We block the upload of attachments that are considered executable based on their file extensions, such as .exe, .bat, and various script files. A full list of restricted extensions is available upon request from Irth. This list is based on the file types that Amazon prohibits in email. All other file types, including videos, are allowed.

All attachments undergo antivirus scanning and will be rejected if any virus is detected. This information applies to UI and the API.

If you encounter any issues or system alerts during upload, contact Colorado 811 for support.
